The original band members were Paul Doucette (drums, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Kyle Cook (lead guitar, backing vocals), Brian Yale (bass guitar), and Rob Thomas (lead vocals). Before renaming to Matchbox Twenty, the group went under the moniker “Tabitha’s Secret.” “Yourself or Someone Like You,” their debut album, was released in 1996 and experienced tremendous financial success. The album included popular tracks including “Push,” “3 AM,” and “Real World.”
In 2005, Matchbox Twenty took a break from performing in order for the band members to work on their own projects. They went on tour together again in 2010, and their fourth studio album, “North,” was released in 2012. Five studio albums by Matchbox Twenty have been released: “Yourself or Someone Like You” (1996), “Mad Season” (2000), “More Than You Think You Are” (2002), “North” (2012), and “NORTH 2.0” (2020).
