His first single, “Never Gonna Give You Up,” was published in 1987 and went on to become a global smash, peaking at number one in 25 different nations. In 2007, the “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video became popular, sparking the “Rickrolling” practice of tricking internet users into clicking a link that opened the video. “Whenever You Need Somebody,” Astley’s debut album, was published in 1987 and went on to become a great hit, selling more than 15 million copies globally.
